Long-Term Recovery

There are dozens of resources in the Polk County area that will support you as you work toward addiction recovery. International organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) & Narcotics Anonymous (NA), church support groups and hotlines are just a few of the resources that exist to help you end your addiction.

Support groups are an excellent way to track your progress and connect to others dealing with similar issues. Support groups exist for almost every type of addiction, and most groups are free to attend. Typical support groups include anonymous membership, guidance from experienced professionals (sponsorship), and different strategies to prevent relapses and cravings.


Local Programs in Polk County Area


Heartland Intergroup

Heartland Intergroup is a division of Alcoholics Anonymous serving Polk County and other nearby cities. It offers group support and a 24-hour hotline to recovering alcoholics. Members follow 12-step program guidelines to ensure treatment through abstinence. It offers many meetings to accommodate people living in different areas of Polk County. In District 3, there are 118 AA Groups & 218 meetings each week. They also have on-line group aa.chats.org/aa-meeting-online

Narcotics Anonymous - Heartland provides group support for people battling drug addiction. People with different drug addictions, including alcohol, are able to attend its meetings. This organization offers an immediate hotline. Heartland Narcotics Anonymous serves different counties in Central Florida, but has an online directory for nearly 30 Narcotics Anonymous branches all over Florida.


Virtual Support Groups

Though there are many support groups in the Polk County area, there may not be an organization or location that suits your needs. Virtual support groups give you aid and encouragement without having to meet with others in person. Facebook groups, web calls with therapists and online forums can provide the support you need to stay off drugs.


Web Applications- Reset O Program

reSET is a 90-day Prescription Digital Therapeutic (PDT) for Substance Use Disorder (SUD) intended to provide cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), as an adjunct to a contingency management system, for patients 18 years of age and older who are currently enrolled in outpatient treatment under the supervision of a clinician.


Church Support Groups

People who want to recover in a faith-based environment may seek out a support group that aligns with their beliefs. These programs follow the original 12-step program design, where addicts recover through their faith in God.


Tobacco Free Florida

Tobacco Free Florida is a state-funded program designed to give people resources to quit smoking. Tobacco Free Florida offers phone coaching, group therapy scheduling and digital resources that help people overcome nicotine addictions.
